How to achieve this Emma Watson look…

If your anything like me you just love how Emma Watson has achieved a certain elegance and charm.  I find myself happy to see her grow up into this amazing person who is an important role model for young women.  She is definitely and interesting woman to keep track of and I cant wait to see what she does next……

Here is a guide to achieve her look for this picture. I just love that this makeup enhances her eyes while keeping a natural element, all part of the simple charm that is Emma Watson and to top it off she has a fantastic hair style!

This makeup look is all about the eyes so you just need a light foundation coverage keeping any freckles and moles for a natural look. Then once you have powdered add some light bronzer around the hairline as i have demonstrated in brown and then add a pale peach/pink blush. All the makeup used for this look is in matt form so no shimmer in any way will work best for this makeup.

Next up add your lips, again they have gone for a matt look so a pale pinkish skin colour is what I recommend. When using matt lippy be sure to use a lip balm underneath so it doesnt crack through dry lips, just make sure the balm you choose isn’t too shiny or heavily applied

Now for the eyes. To start use the simple method of tint, tone and shade. What this means is’ tint ‘ under the eyebrow with a pale almond skinlike colour, then follow with a ‘tone’ over the eyelid in a pale peach colour. Complete with your ‘shade’ in the crease of the eye with a light to medium brown. Blend all the levels so that they are subtle but still visible, remember you can always add more but its much harder to take off.

To add more depth to the eyes I recommend using a dark chocolate brown with a fine angled brush around the outside of the lashes both above and below.

Now to make the dark brown really effective you want to blend it into the existing brown ‘shade’, so slowly add more of the dark brown with a small eyeshadow brush into the crease and a little over the lid concentrating on the outside edge. Softly blend away any harsh lines so its not obvious but you should notice the extra ‘wow’ factor this added to your eyes. Sometimes it helps to stand back from your reflection when doing your eyes so you get a better sense of how its coming together.

Finally you finish off your look with a thin line of black eyeliner concentrating on the lash line. Take the outside edge out to a little flick and take the line about half way under the eye giving you that ‘almond eye’ look. Then apply some white eyeliner to the inside of the eye to really open your eyes up. Finish with a few coats of mascara. Remember if you don’t want to have clumpy dry lashes you need to regularly change your mascara, they really dont stay fresh past 3 months.

Thanks for reading and have fun playing with this fabulous look.

Memories of Old

This is an edited photo from my 1920′s themed shoot.  We thought why not have fun trying to make one look authentic

Glamorous Beauty from the 1920′s

I have always adored the whole fashion look from the 1920′s – 40′s.  The amount of work that went into maintaining their style is unbelievable especially considering what was available to them.  I have always wanted to create a 20′s look and I hope that I have done my ancestors proud.

A big thanks to my beautiful sister who let me use her for this shoot xox

Creative makeup

This is the result of me being bored at home and then making my husband who has been at work all day taking photos, take more photos of me.

Thanks Honey xx

When a girl turns into a woman…

It is an exciting day when you get to be made up for the first time. It’s something that for a girl you never forget and it’s also an important step in a females life in the symbol of turning from a girl into a young woman.

I feel privileged to be a part of this experience in a lot of people’s lives and especially when it’s someone I have known since they were a baby so I am going to share the pic’s from Holly’s first time being made up and ready for her graduation from primary school.

All grown up

Proud mum :)

It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of this day.

Good luck with your next exciting stage of life miss Holly xx

How to guide: Cat Woman Makeup

Step 1: Start with your base first and cover your face with desired level of foundation. Then with a loose translucent face powder apply under the eyes with a blending brush so as to create an easy removal of any mess. Use the diagram above to show you the area in which to place the powder.

Step 2: Using a grey eyeshadow to give a soft smokey effect to the eye over the whole lid and out at the edge to give you a cat like effect. The lighter grey above is representing a silver glitter to add some sparkle to the look. Finish off the eye design with a thick liquid black line to enhace the cat effect to your eyes. This look doesnt need much blending as its supposed to be a dramatic look.

Step 3: Now you can remove away the translucent powder under the eye and clean up any mess before you go on. I reccomend a powder brush to remove the powder in a quick sweeping motion from the inner eye to outer. To remove the excess residue of powder clean up with a few cotton buds then use your concealor brush to freshen with the left over concealor in the brush. Add your desired blush to the apples of your cheeks.

Step 4: Now that there is no more powder products being used you can apply your mascara and for added effect a full set of lashes. Finish off your makeup with desired lipstick or gloss, I used red because I wanted a sexy Cat Woman. Normally a smokey eye with a strong lip can look too much but when its a special event all rules go out the window and you can really have fun!

Step 5: Now you wouldn't be Cat Woman without a face mask so there are a few ways to do this. I have used body paint because that was what I did this look for so if you have a steady hand and want to give this a try then start with an outline using a light lip liner to get the shape right and then fill it in. Alternatively you can buy a pre made mask from a store.

Well I hope you enjoyed my post on how to achieve this look. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you are having trouble.  Practice makes perfect so keep at it cause it gets really easy really quickly…..

Enjoy xx

Makeup tip: Lucious lips

The best way to ensure your lips show off the desired look is to keep them moisturized.  I like to follow the simple steps of drinking 1.5-2 litres of water every day and using my favorite balm which is Burt’s bees replenishing lip balm with pomegranate oil.

By keeping your lips prepped you can use whatever shade of lippy or gloss that you desire to go with your mood and outfit.

Keep in mind that when you use a lipstick or gloss that lasts for 12 hours or more that it is full of chemicals and will most likely make your lips peel the following day. I personally stick to natural products on a daily basis but sometimes you just want that vibrant sexy lip to match your outfit and in that case I will spoil myself.

Leopard Body Paint shoot

Had sooo much fun with this, hope you all enjoy

We did a plain blue background for the purpose of cutting her out of it and super imposing her into a jungle background. Shots will be up when this side project has been completed, should look amazing!

All images are raw, no retouching as yet.

When post production is finished I will add them up here.
